Why are "Threads" created missing from some members' history?

For example, when I click on this member’s thread history (which denotes 2 threads having been started), I get this:

I’ve seen this on more than one occasion, FWIW.

I saw a similar kind of discussion somewhere the other day. It may be that flagging posts counts as a thread.

Sorry, I don’t follow, @mom2twogirls. Are you saying the member in question has flagged “2” threads or the member was flagged in two threads by somebody else?

This particular member attacked me in a very fast-moving thread. (Although, given the statements he made about me, I’m not sure why.)

Come to think of it, the last time I noted the discrepancy, it was another poster who got nasty and personal. In both cases, it was very much a “How dare you question my opinion! Don’t you not know who I think I am???” kind of confrontation, when I all I thought I did was disagree with someone or offer a different opinion.

Now I’m seriously wondering if they’re the same poster. That might explain the venom.

@LucieTheLakie I’ve flagged posts in the past for review as possibly being against the TOS. That flag consequently shows up as a “thread.” I don’t have any idea why the system was set up this way. If you click on me, for example, you’ll see that the “threads” don’t match the actual number of threads I started.

Generally, I don’t think flagging is a bad thing. The TOS are clear, and if a poster violates them it is to everyone’s advantage to have that post reviewed. But like everything else, flagging can be used by a few as abusive, I suppose. Hopefully the moderators would put a stop to that when it happens.

NVM, I found the thread that answered the question. So if you flag a post, it is added to your thread creation count.

Also maybe it’s possible that those two threads were deleted and still included in the count?

Thanks, @MidwestDad3. That all makes sense. I’ve flagged posts for a variety of reasons–sometimes it’s to ask a moderator to relocate a thread to a different forum, but mostly if somebody has gotten nasty. And it’s not always directed at me, BTW!

It is glitchy though, because I have definitely noticed that when viewing a users “replies,” some of the user’s replies that still exist are missing from the list (even after I’ve hit the “More Comments” button until it disappears). And that is very common–I’ve noticed it many times. I am using the mobile interface, so I don’t know if it’s unique to that.

Correct.

Replies that are deleted for a moderator for whatever reason (edited to a period/meaningless comment like “NVM”/ToS violation, still “count” as a reply. Similarly, if you “like” a comment, the like count remains even if the post is later deleted.
