for all those out there taking the 5/6 SAT, what do you think? as it gets nearer and nearer to T-(test) Day, what are your views?

Mine:

I’m applying to MIT’s Sloan undergraduate business program, NYU’s Stern, and Northwestern’s Kellogg undergraduate program in November. I’m taking the test to offset my mediocre GPA. I got a 194 in October’s PSAT, so i’m waiting, planning and plotting for my getback. Make no mistake, I hate CB too. But i’m also thankful that there’s a test to make my friends with 4.2’s jealous when they see my shiny 2300.

My school’s test administrator frequently calls me out of class: she wants to know what my SAT strategies are gonna be, lol.

Ironically, math is my weakest subject area. I am one of those students that happen to be somehow weirdly talented in english and grammar, yet painfully obtuse in Math. I’m not dumb ( in AP Cal BC)…just left-brained.

That’s what I think.

because i’m an 8th grader with no life at all and wants to impress her asian mother and other asian mothers obsessed with turning their kids into lying lawyers and cheating doctors.

just kidding :)

I’m sorry, but you shouldn’t even be considering MIT with a 194 PSAT.
At MIT, moreso than at most schools, innate intelligence >> studiousness.

I’m taking the May 6th because I cancelled my April SAT scores… and already signed up for the June SAT IIs… I haven no choice but to take it this May or wait till October :/

not necessarily. some kids make it here by sheer will. I had a low psat score the first time I took it as well.

I agree. Someone who is intelligent but does not do any work at all is not as good as someone with average intelligence that works extremely hard.

really wondering why i am always seeing all these “2200” “2300”-ish scores here?! are the ppl in this forum all targeting schools like MIT?

^^ We are in a college forum at 3AM (my time at least) discussing the nuances of standardized testing. This site tends to attract many high achievers with big dreams. CC is not in any way an accurate representation of reality in the admissions process. Most of us will probably apply to schools like HYPSM (Harvard Yale Princeton Stanford MIT), but there are also plenty of people with slightly lower, but still awesome, scores.
