Should this essay be written in the narrative approach?
It doesn’t have to be. In particular, if you have a smaller word limit, it’s probably better to be more straightforward when answering the question.

My kids took a straightforward approach with those essays. Nothing creative, just described what they liked about the school (getting pretty specific, crawl through their website for ideas). And also wove in some info on why they would be a good fit.
Still, I think intparent’s kid’s approach is the best, although it’s probably better to focus on why you’d be a good fit, while weaving in some things that you like about the school. Remember, admissions officers already know about their school, but they don’t know about you. Convince them that they have what you need to be successful, and that you’ll contribute to the campus community in some way.
