Why Did NMH Head Resign?

Sometimes this current (legitimate) demand for “transparency” crosses the line to the less than legitimate desire to satisfy our prurient curiousity. I believe this is one of those times.

If what the Head did was of a personal nature and had no real effect on the well-being of the school, or anyone in it, then there is really no reason to disclose the details.

Let’s not resort to mob-mentality at the slightest provocation, shall we?

leanid, this is your opinion, which I may not agree but respect, but the following is ops’ “opinion”, whioch I think borders “bullying” and I don’t think should be tolerated - coming from an adult in particular.

Btw, I just PM’ed with an NMH insider, who explained that the reasons behind the resignation were “personal” but went on saying ops didn’t “repensent him/her or the school”, which I interpreted as that NMH wouldn’t take the tone as ops’ when inquired for this or other matters.

First I’m shouting, now I’m bullying? You are entertaining, sometimes. Never stated I spoke for NMH but in layman’s terms don’t think they’re saying it any differently. There, you got a response but that’s all the nourishment I will be providing.

You can keep coming back to “provide your nourishment”, but it won’t change the fact that you said something rude and unacceptable imo. I never said you “spoke for” NMH but the “NMH insider” voluntarily told me that so I guess they confirmed that you indeed did not speak for their school.

I do have a pretty positive knowledge of what transpired - it is the most commonly heard rumor, and I have had it confirmed from a few trusted sources (let’s put it at about 80% sure). Again, I’m not sure I’m at liberty to say it, and I can see that some here may not want to know if it is just a rumor. You can PM me if you want, or come to an agreement to hear what I have head.

Rest assured though that it was only a poor personal decision, and does interfere with his being able to be a proper role model for the students, not so much the actual running of the school.

I think you should post it with a disclaimer that it is 80% accurate in your opinion.

My 2 cents–as a family that applied and seriously considered NMH last year-- is that it IS a big deal, and if DC had chosen NMH I’d be especially ****ed as TS was all over all of the admissions materials and seemed like a great head of school. What I have heard alluded to extramarital activity, likely with a subordinate at the school…that would certainly explain the expedited departure.

Don’t underestimate the impact that adult behavior has on our teens–even though we think teens are not paying attention and living in their own teenage world. At my D’s school, there are strict rules on boys in girls dorm rooms, but the kids find this somewhat hypocritical because they can “hear” one of the younger teachers carrying on in her apartment at the end of the hall with another teacher!!

erlanger-About your last sentence-TMI. Really.
