So am I ivy league material?

Yes, you will be a competitive applicant at Ivy League schools.

go for it!
u have a higher chance of getting in if you apply than if you dont

don’t send the SAT scores. I got into Yale with a 32 on my ACT and a 2200 SAT. I would only send your ACT scores, because an 1860 SAT is extremely low for Yale.

32 ACT is enough for Yale. No need to retake!
And I’d say that you have an above average chance!

I agree with lubinli, who by the way is a member of 2011. Although this might sound creepy I actually know who you are by your SN. IP remember? Regardless, a 32 is excellent for Yale and I want to say your SAT II are good and it’s a shame that you can’t send them. Perhaps you can focus on increasing your SAT I just once and your ACT again if necessary in your mind, a 32 is competitive. With that said you have two opportunities during the fall to take each test for SCEA and three if you apply RD. Keep in mind that Yale wants to socioeconomically diversify and you might be just the right candidate to allow them to continue to do that. Also Questbridge is highly competitive, no? If you really won that you have a excellent chance at an ivy acceptance not necessarily Yale but an ivy acceptance since the program has applicants similar to those to apply to Yale and the likes. Much luck.

woah we have strangely similar stats
URM (african american male)
president of debate
violinist
venture scholar
NHS
Quest Bridge
but you I say you have a good chance…good luck!

So why did the chicken turn on the computer, anyone?

Go for it, just send the ACT scores, not the SATs

You have an above average chance of getting into Yale. Clearly you have worked hard, overcome challenges and come from a different background than the average Ivy League student. Make sure your essays and recommendations are very good, ideally written very well too (with real examples, not just generalizations) and with no typos. You can probably ask the teachers if you can check them if you aren’t confident about that. You might want to consider getting an extra rec letter from someone who knows you very well outside the classroom, too, perhaps from one of your extracurriculars. You might even ask a current student at Yale to help you or proofread the essay or app. Try contacting a student through the Yale admissions office or through one of the Yale cultural houses (like the African American Center). Send the ACT, which is a good score, and the SATIIs, which are all in the mid 700s and therefore good. Good luck!

Thank you for the help everyone!! :)

go to this link for information on debate at Swarthmore…

Where are you from? I am from Detroit, the armpit of the USA.

Im form Houston Texas… but i have a question…is Yale’s debate team competitive on the interpretation side?

apply you have nothing to lose…
