Why didn't I get a Yale interview?

I applied early action a week before the deadline. Two people at my school who also applied early (both the day before the deadline) were contacted for and conducted alumni interviews a week or two ago. One of them told me that her interviewer mentioned to her that Yale was going to try to interview everyone in our area (they had received an unusually high number of applications from the area). I read elsewhere on a forum that 12/1 was the deadline for alumni interviews; even if that’s not the case it seems unlikely that I’ll get an interview at this point. What determines who in an area is scheduled for an interview when? I would assume it would be something like alphabetically or in order of applications received, but neither seems to apply in this case. Is not getting an interview a function of scheduling or could it possibly represent the school’s attitude toward my application?

Why no interview? Short answer? Chance

– but not any indication of your likelihood. Stop worrying. Good luck.

From what ive heard (My uncle is a Penn interviewer)they have one look at your application and see if you haven’t elaborated on any aspects or if they feel that there is more to you than what your application states. If so, you get an interview ASAP. For the others its by chance. The regional interviewer gets a full list of ALL applicants and it is divided amongst the interviewers based on your major. The individual interviewers try to interview as many people in their last as possible. But obviously a few get left out.
Thus, if you did not get an interview its because your application well presented and that you fell short on a bit of luck. Don’t sweat it.
BOL

^^ Sorry but Chelsea is absolutely wrong. No one looks at your app other than to see if it’s complete. If it’s complete, then your name (along with the shoo-in superstars and the zero chancers) get forwarded to the area alumni volunteer network (if one exists).

They aren’t divided by majors (which is irrelevant to the interview process) – basically nothing chelsea said is applicable to the Yale interview process other than sometimes some applicants can’t be interviewed due to shortages of alums.

Read the threads I cited earlier

How interviews are done at UPenn is probably just different from Yale.

Thank you all very much  I’ll try to stop worying haha.
