What is it that the admissions committee checks for? If nothing has changed, then what is the purpose in having to order and pay for shipping another transcript? Are there certain points that stand out on the transcript that the committee wants to ensure is accurate?

Talk to the department - it is likely that this policy is not intended to for you but is focused on ungraduated seniors to ensure that they did in fact graduate. That having been said, it is likely that they will prefer holding you to a redundant transcript rather than amend or except the policy.
