Why do I keep getting emails from colleges after their application deadlines have passed?

I enabled the “share information with colleges” option on college board on January 2016. However, at the start of February I began to receive loads of emails from liberal arts colleges/universities, some with information about their programs and some urging me to apply. I find this very strange because I am already a high school senior and their application deadlines have already passed (the deadlines were either jan 1 or jan 15). Most of these colleges are very hard to get in to (10-25% acceptance rate). Why do I keep getting these emails when their deadlines have passed? Do they want me to apply late?

Thanks.

When you share your information with colleges, colleges can then buy “bundles” of student info to send out emails to. This means they may not know (and probably don’t care) that you’re a senior. They’re just trying to drum up apps for next year. It’s not personal. I would just ignore these messages.

My kid is IN college, and we are still getting stuff from a couple of colleges. Some systems obviously take longer than others to be updated. Don’t worry about it.
