Why do Men have Nipples? Too risque?

I am thinking of topics to do for the Common App. One of my passions is studying life (aka biology). I have an 800 in bio and a 5 on the exam and i have a 34 on the act (36 on science). Is that too inappropriate? I come from a typical doctor family (dads a pediatrician, moms a OB/GYN) and don’t really know if its an acceptable topic outside my dinner table.

College essays imo should be about *you/i. The best topic allows the writer to be as personal, detailed, honest and revealing as possible.

Lots of people could write a scientific analysis of the question you pose. The target for a college essay, though, imo is something so personal, so unique to you, that only you could write it.

If this topic allows for that sort of insight into you, then give it a try.

i dont think that it would really work out too well, but you never know.

what did you have in mind?

and by the way, great job with the test scores! they are amazing. :)

i think if you wrote it well it could definitely show your passion for biology, but make sure you keep the focus on yourself or else it could turn into a weird essay that isn’t really relevant to anything

Hahaha, I actually think it’s pretty clever and attention-catching. Humor is always nice on apps; a couple laughs can’t hurt, can they? Since your stats and others clearly demonstrate your passion in Biology/human bodies, I say the essay topic is also very relevant. It’s not like completely out of the loop or anything. So… go for it!

Here is the answer:

Men are modified forms of women. Women are defined by the X chromosome. What the Y chromosome does is modify that X chromosome tha tthe male has giving him all of the manly characteristics. The ***** is a modified version of the women’s clitoris. The testicles are modified versions of the woman’s ovaries. The reason men have nipples is b.c women have them. Execpt the Y chromosome changed them so men dont have breasts and are left with the nipples.

I took one year of HS bio and could figure this out. Its not that hard, most people could think of th aanser if they wanted to, but people dont waste their time doing it. Try a new topic, this one sucks.

Haha I think the topic could be interesting if maybe you start out by discussing it, but then move on to your interest in Biology and why you like it so much, how you tie your passion in with other stuff in your life. It’s a nice attention grabber and will be very memorable, but remember the essay is about YOU, not nipples.

I agree with what whdongirl says.

if you can make male nipples sound interesting in your essay, I don’t see why any college would reject you.
