Why do people cry about 1560

One of my friends was really upset at school today because she got a 1560 (800 V, 760 Math). Where do these people come from?

i would cry if i got a 1560 too… but thats because im going to be taking the new sats and that would give me a score of 1560/2400, which roughly translates to a 1040. but yeah, your friend shouldnt be sad. tell her to quit wasting her tears on something so trivial. actually dont, im not sure how she owuld take that. :)

We are over-achievers, it is as simple as that.

People cry about a 1560 because they want to point out the fact that they got a 1560.

THEM: Boohoo, I got an 800 on verbal but ONLY a 760 on math. Listen to me whine about my scores that are insanely higher than anything you will ever get.

INCORRECT RESPONSE: Wait…that’s really awesome. You should be so happy. That’s so much better than me.

CORRECT RESPONSE: Haha, you loser! 1560, you missed 1600 by 40 points.

Now, honestly, they may have really wanted just to get a 1600, and this was the last chance. So, that’s one possibility for being so upset (although the fact that she was visibly upset about it indicates otherwise). Even if the person is your friend, I think it’s human nature to want to brag about the score…so being upset about it when you really want others to know is one good way of doing that without feeling like you’re just being a braggart (you’re not being happy about it, you’re being sad! :-p)

Slap her in the face.

Quoted for emphasis.
And Seconded.

Those people deserve to be unemployed after they get out of college to show them that scores aren’t everything there is to life.

the reason they cry is because they missed 1600.
so close yet so far.
everyone would like a perfect score, but when you miss it by 40 points, one or two questions, it becomes so agonizing and torturous.

Hey PCRunner, your quote on quote “correct response” was the best way I have EVER heard on how to deal with those 1590 Whiners. LOL and power to sarcasm!

maybe its tears of joy

wow, I got a 1580 and I was really happy…Is there something wrong with me? I’m I supposed to be whining? Maybe I should go see a psychiatrist…

lol elodie :)

yeah man, I would honestly be ecstatic if I pulled a 1350.

i was depressed for a week after my 1560. i kept thinking how stupid i was to miss all those critical reading q’s…lol j/k. i was pretty thrilled. only two verbal q’s from a 1600? if people whine about that, then they seriously need to get a life

A person who scored a 1560 is not any stupider than one who scored a 1600 in the eyes of an admissions counselor, but a 1600 is much sexier. The adcon might subconsciously prefer the perfect-scorer.

Of course the adcom prefers the perfect scorer! That’s like saying the sky is blue…

You guys, people aren’t really CRYING about their 1560’s here. They know for damn sure that 1560 is a good score admissions-wise, they’re complaining because they know how CLOSE they were to getting the 1600. I was complaining about my 1470 not because 1470 is a bad score but because it was seriously 11 questions off (1 math and 10 verbal) from the 1600. ELEVEN questions! it seems like “dude thats ALL that held me from being the best of the best! MAN!” overacheivers here? yes, get used to it.

you gotta love the people who get 99s on tests that complain to get another point back or get upset because they’re used to their 100’s (and when i say “love” what i really mean is “get really p!ssed off at”). Seriously, get a life (i know too many people who aren’t that smart that just try really hard and waste all their time trying to be perfect), high school isn’t that hard. I have an almost 95% UW gpa, 1450 sat, 2 varsity sports, multiple APs, just outside of the top 5% of my class, you’re never gonna hear me whine about a 99…nobody wants to hear it…so sorry about that rant, its just something that makes me really mad when ppl complain even tho they’re top of the class.
and yes…slap them…would feel so good

i understand that it’s annoying when ppl with high scores complain but sometimes they’re genuinely upset because they just have higher standards…one of my friends is awesome at math…and by awesome i mean someone who aces tests like the amc etc…she got a 1580…780M i think it was a careless mistake and she was UPSET!!..and i can understand that…ofcourse there are ppl who crave attention…and depending on the person…perhaps he/she should be slapped…!!

cmon ppl, students with 1500+ have the right to brag, i mean, after all, they study hard just like the most of us. them bragging is like the rich ppl buying a ferrari instead of Hondas (no offense, my mom drives an accord). anyway, you don’t complain about those ppl.
so, we should respect them, when they complain, just don’t talk, nod is the only thing to do. and then try to change the subject :)

I have no problem with them bragging, its when they go from bragging to complaining about why they should have done better…that just gets annoying
