Why do people want to go out of our country for school. After all the school system here is very good. What is it that would make someone want to go out? I was looking for a school in economics, and found the overseas schools only to be equiv. or slightly worse to the ones I can get into, within the US. So why do people want to go out of the country?

If money were no problem, I would consider going out of the country for undergrad. I’m drawn to the adventure and new experiences inherent in living in an entirely different culture. Of course, I could probably get that with study abroad, but I’d really like to live for an extended time in another country.

i think most people going abroad are doing it for the same reasons as lola states, college is a time for adventure, to experience and try new things… you wont get many experiences like that later in life. also, after high school, many people are just excited to get out of their boring life and see a new thing. Also, being in a totally new environment can be very rich and rewarding as a learning experience, which is what college is all about.

Sometimes it’s actually a cheaper alternative to going to school in the States.

There are excellent universities outside of the States so why limit yourself?
