Why do they ask if you are in AP or have taken AP?

When I did the chemistry subject test, they asked if I was in AP Chemistry. I am in AP chemistry, so I circled “yes”. The thing is, I’m in a full-term school, so by the time I did the subject test in November, we had only covered about 1/8th of AP Chem.

So now I’m regretting filling in “yes”. I feel like they’re gonna mark me harder because they think I should know everything in there, when in reality, my knowledge of chemistry is pretty average.

Why do they ask whether you’re in AP, anyway? The only thing I can come up with is that they put you on a tougher curve if you are, and I am really beating myself up about saying “yes”.

I think they just ask for their own records and data. They probably use that to evaluate what types of students tend to take these tests and how they can perhaps improve their exams accordingly.

I highly doubt they would change your curve based on your education.

An 80 year old grandma who doesn’t know anything about chem could take the chem test and they would still get the same curve as you.

Just think , do stupid people get a better curve on the SAT I? NO?

No worries :)
