Why do we register for Summer before Spring?

<p>I find it quite odd that we register for summer before we register for spring . Also the summer schedule will officially up on the 15th and registration starts on the 1st… the spring schedule is not even up yet.</p>

<p>That is very weird considering some people (like myself) have classes that we need to take in sequence or that have preqs … that we can not sign up for unless we know what is offered in spring.</p>

<p>you can still sign up for them i believe… i’m almost certain that i signed up for physics 6C for summer session before i enrolled in physics 6B for spring last year</p>

<p>thing about summer is there aren’t any enrolllment restrictions
but as to why it comes out earlier than spring, i agree that makes no sense</p>

<p>Part of the difference in enrollment times has to do with finding out demand in summer, as it’s not part of the “normal” sequence of quarters. There’s also the people from other schools to worry about.</p>

<p>It’s a pain, but meh… I think a lot of schools do it.</p>

<p>My situation is not really preq as much as what is offered and what is not . </p>

<p>For example,class XYZ is offered in summer so is class 123, but i dont know which one would be offered in spring… if either… so do i register for one or both.</p>

<p>Also … registration is Feb 1st? for everyone who goes to UCLA correct?
there is no enrollment times?</p>

<p>tentative spring 07 schedule is up, so you can at least get an idea.</p>

<p>blah i am 1 unit short of 60 in my planned course list… blah blah blah! grrrrr.</p>

<p>supposedly, but the enrollment restrictions is “undergraduates only”. i had a senior in my first fiat lux last year. he needed one more unit to graduate or something.</p>

<p>well Fiat Lux is undergraduate… lower division credit, correct?</p>

<p>i need 1 unit upper div.</p>

<p>i am probably going to have to petition the IDS department to allow one class instead of another… i have to do a regional focus, and i want to tke a 6 unit film class about latin american/chicano/ film… they should allow that since they allow film in certain other regions.</p>

<p>do we really have to sign up so early? Last summer, I signed up for my classes two weeks before summer session started. Can I still do that?</p>
