Hello, I’m currently a high school senior interested in applying to GW 2016. I have a couple questions, targeted mainly at students interested in Medicine or something along those lines. 1) Why did you choose GW? 2) What is the campus life like currently? 3) What do you enjoy the most about GW? 4) What science courses have you taken thus far? 5) Would you say that the courses prepare you well for the MCAT? 6) What is the GW community like? Friendly? Diverse?
Sorry if I have to many questions but just just want to have an insight into what GW has to offer.
- GW has its own medical school
- Currently? Pretty dead. It is, afterall, summer break
- I say the city atmosphere and all that it brings (internships, diverse friends, things to do/see)
- Related to pre-med? Chem 1, Bio 1, Biophysics 1&2, Anatomy. I graduated with a degree in physics in 2012, so I took all the required physics courses as well
- I never took the MCAT, but of all my friends that went the pre-med route, they ALL got into med school
- The GW community is incredibly diverse. Friendly? I’d say yes, but I think people could have been MORE friendly. Your first year, however, people will be VERY friendly and outgoing while they search for a new circle of friends. After that, people just get really busy. So maybe it’s not that students aren’t friendly, they’re just too busy to “act” friendly?
If you want to know more, I wrote a rather extensive comment on what I thought of GW overall: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/17764251/#Comment_17764251
