Why does Case Western Reserve University have a high acceptance rate?

I’ve always wondered about why Ohio, and especially the Cleveland (and Cincinnati(?)) areas have this stigma sorrounding them? I’m not from Ohio, but it really does startle me. I googled “Cleveland” and got some pretty pictures, and the wikipedia article doesn’t seem to mention anything blatantly unappealing. Could someone explain to me what the deal is?

<p>Historically Cleveland has been EXTREMELY polluted and (I’ve heard) quite dangerous. I’m not sure of its state right now, however; I’ve only really been around the “nice” parts of Cleveland.</p>
