Why don't men carry purses?

Stuff can fall out of the front pockets if they are not deep enough. Some jeans have additional pockets to put things in. I prefer carpenters jeans as they have a few extra pockets on the front and sides. Cargo pants may work well too for carrying things around without worrying about sitting on them or things falling out.

This may be why they are the carrying approach of choice on college and school campuses.

Backpacks are also good for packing clothes for trips when you aren’t taking your backpack.

My backpack is normally 15-20 pounds with my 17 inch laptop. It’s going to get a lot lighter as I’m replacing it with a new one in a month. I also carry a workout bag which is about 15 pounds (shoes, clothes, lunch, electronics, floss, comb, combination lock, first-aid kit, laundry bags, and water bottles.

Getting from the parking lot to my office often feels like a decent workout.

Wait, what?

Should have been laptop.

I want to the size of everything in my wallet (driver license, credit cards, insurance cards, dollar bills,…) reduced to 25% - 50% so that I can have a smaller and thinner wallet. I want car manufacturers make smaller car keys.

I actually carry a spare truck key in my wallet. For the most part, I could just use that key but I choose to carry another key on a lanyard instead and keep the one in my wallet for the times I lock myself out!

That’s me. My legs look too stumpy in dresses and skirts without heels, pants I always wear flats with. But I will always wear comfy shoes into the office and put on my heels if I’m wearing a dress… if I had to walk around more I probably just wouldn’t wear dresses but I hardly ever have to leave my desk.

I have to admit, though, that I wear slippers under my desk at work and only put the heels on to walk to the restroom or to go to meetings.

When I stopped carrying my wallet in my back pocket 100% of the time, I stopped getting holes in my back pocket.

Of course, now I have to remember where I left the wallet in our house…or in the car…I do have a regular place to leave it, but there are many other possible places as well…<sigh></sigh>

I’m surprised a company hasn’t come up with RFID chips or microalarms for wallets.

I set the digital watches to go off around 6:00 AM so if I want to find them, I just listen for them at that time.

My H actually just uses a modified money clip instead of a wallet, so less bulky.
When we had cordless phones I was always trying to find it, same with cellphones, & if no one was around to call mine I was SOL. But now I can use find my iPhone with my laptop or iPad. ;)

Im not tall, but don’t wear heels a lot, and rarely over a couple inches.
I think it looks odd when women wear heels that are of a height out of proportion to their leg. They look like they are playing dress up.
We are currently staying in an area with several churches, and I walked through a group of women that all had heels that must have been 4", which made them about my height which is 5’2". Of course they probably just had to walk from their car to the church, but I bet that is what they often wear.

However working as a hair stylist for a few years where I was expected to be dressed up everyday including stilts cured me of thinking it was fun.

I made the mistake in college of complaining about wearing dress shoes to one of our staff members. She quickly gave me an evil eye and remarked something about “men having it easy.” She was wearing the so-call hooker boots that night for the game…

BC, check this out:

[United States Patent Application: 0110205124 Object Locator System](http://appft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PG01&s1=“wallet+locator”&OS=“wallet+locator”&RS=“wallet+locator”)

:) I wonder how the prosecution of this application is going… “Docketed new case” - of course, with the backlog in the Patent Office, it would be surprising to see any action in such a new case. :)

I think the correct term is ‘murse’ = man purse. :)

As for the high heels subject…WTH! Have you seen those things with the 1" platform coupled with 5 inch 1/8" diameter heels. It must be like walking with a slanted brick held up by a chop stick tied to ones foot. Sorry, not happening now, didn’t happen the first time around.

I do remember trying to walk down a very very steep hill in SF many years ago while wearing high heels. It was a physical impossibility - so the choice was either take them off - and ruin a pair of hose (remember those?) or walk backwards…went with the backwards option.

^^ That would have been funny to see. I’m trying to picture you walking down Lombard street - backwards, in heels.

I thought “murse” stood for “male nurse”?

I was just having this conversation yesterday, as so many men either jam their pockets or carry a briefcase. I was speculating that the increasing popularity of ipads/tablets might create an uptick in smaller bags for men. Why carry a size designed for laptops that completely undoes the advantage of something smaller? My H was at a conference recently and reported observing a participant who carried his ipad tucked into the back of his pants. H found that “gross”. While backpacks have their place, they too can be cumbersome, not great over a suit and not secure in certain situations.
