Why Duke?

Hello,

I am a high school senior applying to Duke University along with seven other schools, most of similar caliber. I have an interview scheduled for Friday, and was wondering if some of you “in the know” could offer some insights as to anything unusual I might expect, and also, what makes Duke unique.

Unfortunately, Duke is the only school that I was unable to visit, and I am not very familiar with it. What stands out? What do they offer that is different?

In case it may be helpful, I intend to study economics, government, international relations, or some combination thereof.

Thanks for any help.

There are forums for individual schools here where you will find more people with school specific knowledge:

Moving to forum.

Didn’t you write a “why Duke?” short essay.

Get on the Duke website. It’s fabulous. Look under admissions, and under departments that might interest you. Only you can tell what might be a fit for you, and being spoon fed won’t help you in an interview.

If you’re truly interested in Duke, put a little effort into the process.
