shouldd i apply early to should even more interest? i know its a DEFINITE reach, but i just fell in love with the school. any thoughts?? thanks <3

Yeah…It is a definite reach, but don’t give up hope. There’s always a chance, and you should definitely still apply.
Your ec’s and such look great, but do you take any AP’s(if your school offers them)

Also, the fact that your parents never went to college will help you.

However, the bad thing is that many of the schools like Georgetown that receive a massive number of applications use SAT scores as a screening process, discarding anyone they feel is not “up to snuff.” I’d say that to realistically have a shot(and a slim one at that), you’d have to raise your SAT score to at least an 1800 or 1900. Have you tried taking the ACT? Some people do better on that than on the SAT.

I hope my advice has not been too disconcerting. Good Luck getting into Georgetown!

What school do you go to, Xavier? Just curious. I live in AZ too. You have good ECs but your GPA and SAT are very very weak, that its a big longshot. Bring up your SAT to 2100+ and that will help, but that is a huge leap, even with studying. I went into the SAT without studying and got a 2100, and am going to retake for higher. But everyone is different, and SAT isn’t intelligence, its simply if you’re good at taking tests. Best of luck!

Seriously, try taking the ACT; my daughter thought the ACT was easier and she scored very well on it, where her SAT scores weren’t particularly high. The SAT is so gruelling - it lasts forever! The ACT is offered on October 27.
