why go to college? work for LIRR

How about early retirement at 50, pension plus disability payments for 93% or more of workers and free golf? According to the NY Times this is all possible.

I hope I got this link right.

I just finished that article- hard to imagine that such abuses of the system exist.

And being that disability pensions are tax free makes it even a better deal.

H emailed that article yesterday to D who goes to school on LI and rides the LIRR quite frequently. Who needs school?? Just go to work for the railroad - LOL! What an obvious abuse of the system…

That’s unbelievable abuse. On top of the obvious cheating, how could it be that one can be disabled for a job they already retired from?

The disability payment system needs to be overhauled more anyway. There are way too many people collecting disability payments who aren’t disabled - just too lazy to work like the rest of us.

The amount of fraud in disablility/SSI is staggering. Daytime TV is full of ads from lawyers who will help people get the SSI they “deserve”.
