Is it ok to refer to George Washington University as GW in my Why GW essay? And is 300 words not enough?</p>
<p>I’m pretty sure there’s a word limit of 300 words when you enter it on common app. I think because they refer to it as gw then it’s okay for you to as well. I think what I did was say George Washington the first time and then use gw each time after</p>
<p>If you are going to use abbreviations, use GWU. That is the school’s norm. FYI, the formal name is “The George Washington University”. Note the “The” in the name.</p>
<p>The word limit is 500 words and using either GW or GWU as very few people actual refer to it by its official name.</p>
