I was deferred EA, waitlisted RD and I’m still waiting…why haven’t they mailed me a rejection letter yet? I already dropped money for two deposits at another school and had hopes of getting into Northeastern, but now i highly doubt its even possible…why am i still waiting?

I don’t know if waitlists necessarily reject…they could even offer you a spot in August. Just don’t count on it, so plan to go somewhere else, and if you get off the waitlist, reconsider. I mean if you’re waitlisted, basically you were already rejected but there’s a possibility they’ll turn that around. I don’t think you’ll get another rejection letter.

i transfered so maybe that will help your chances… good luck, it sucks waiting on the college to get back to you when other deadlines/deposits are due… i know that feeling

Why did you transfer, soxman?

A variety of reasons… Mostly due to the fact that I asked to change my major at orientation (was engineering but desired a pre-med track), was told to give it a semester by an advisor (stayed in engineering), then after 1st semester went back and said I want to change, filled out a bunch of ITP (internal transfer program) forms , only to be denied transfer (to bouve college of health sciences) because I did not have enough “lab based” credit for the committee to consider my petition to transfer schools (COE to BHS)… I then proceeded to change to biomedical physics and was not impressed by the physics department.

I did not feel like NEU was the type of school i was looking for/want… Personally I got a commuter school vibe from it, although it has made strides recently (West Village, Parcel 18, etc) to give it more of a campus feel, I just didn’t really get that much of a campus feeling from it. I also was not personally set on the Co-Op idea… The program is very good and I feel has a lot of benefits, but for me, I want a more liberal education that a 4 year school offers. It just a personal thing, nothing really against the school or program.

However, what telling me to stay was the fact that I would be leaving some really good and close friends behind… No social reason at all drove my decision for transfer, in fact it countered the feeling to transfer at all.
