I graduated from Maryland. We live in the upper Midwest. I wanted my son to apply to Auburn and other schools with great academics and great football. I never wanted him to suffer like I have as a Terps football fan. lol
Arkansas and OU benefit greatly from Texans.
UF and FSU are very Florida centric and not many from our Dallas HS apply there.
UT and A&M are probably similarly Texas centric with 90%+ from in state.
Georgia > Clemson (high OOS cost?) > Auburn > Oklahoma > Arkansas/Ole Miss/Alabama/USC/LSU
Missou is on par o better than OU but most see it as Midwestern or more expensive OOS than state schools with higher percentage of OOS residents.
Rarely hear anyone applying to UTK/UK/Miss State.
Auburn has become a much tougher admit the last five years. Common app? Flat enrollment?
UTK, U of SC and Clemson are booming with northeastern students who want to go south; remember that NC and UVA (NCSU and Va Tech to a lesser extent) are very hard to get in for OOS students. It would make sense that Texans don’t want to go that far east.
I live close to Fayetteville, AR and our metro has a lot of Texans that went to U or A and have stayed.
Auburn’s popularity will probably get another boost due its second Final Four run in 5 years.
(Also, newly elected IOC president Kirsty Coventry is a former Auburn swimmer)
