<p>To be honest, I think the exceptional geniuses who take 28+ units and manage ~3.7-8 GPAs deserve the highest honor more than the people who take 13-17 units to preserve their 4.0. I also believe this for other academic risks that would break away from getting the 3.97 (i.e. harder or risky courses, or a lot of time-consuming research).</p>
<p>It’s a shame that the ‘highest honor’ necessitates a ‘highest GPA’. Certainly, a high GPA should be a factor, but it shouldn’t bar people who get the rare B.</p>
