Why is ChemE called Chem/Bio Engineering?

is there a difference between just ChemE and Chem/Bio engineering? Also I read on this board that a student who is attending in engineering school can also major in a different school…so it would be like BME / Econ… does this work the other way? like I would major in Econ and then decide to major in BME? does it sound too confusing…

It works. AFAIK, if you fulfill both WCAS’s and McCormick’s core requirements, your diploma will say ‘Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Bachelor of Sciences in ChemE’ (or something similar). If you fulfill only WCAS’s core requirements + those for the ChemE major (and forget about McCormick’s core reqs.), your diploma will say ‘Bachelor of Arts in Economics and ChemE’ (or something). So you’ll only be a B.A.

I may be saying something incorrect here, but that’s the general idea.

WCAS is the humanities and soc. sciences college at Northwestern. McCormick is the engineering school.

Why is ChemE called Chem/Bio Engineering? Are they different?

The answer is here:
