Why is Donald Trump a thing?

And on one hand he says “China is killing us,” while at the same time he manufactures his suit and clothing line in China. When a news reporter called him on it, his response was, “Hey, I’m a business man!”

I think this is a game for him.

Of course it’s a game for him. It’s all about promoting the brand.

If he really cared about our country, he’d suck up the additional expense of manufacturing his products here. It would be good for his candidacy too.

Donald Trump’s sex appeal (however large or little) in the presidential race is characterized by one word: fearlessness.

He is the only candidate from any party who has said the most outlandish things time and time again and has refused to apologize. In my opinion, that’s what we need in a leader. I don’t agree with a lot of the things he says about immigration or some of the language he uses, but he also doesn’t pretend what he said was taken out of context or that he didn’t know exactly what he was saying. All politicians are still liars, but he’s the best of a bad situation.

I also think he’s the only one qualified enough to talk about job creation. He may not be a “self-made billionaire” (his father was), but he did make a significant amount of his current fortune through his own ventures and has created a lot of jobs in areas where there were few. He honestly cares about the people, as opposed to people like Rubio, Clinton, and O’Malley.

I think we’ll get to see how far his “fearlessness” goes when he starts to lose real money and business partners because of his mouth. I see no evidence that “he honestly cares about the people.” I see no evidence that “he truly understands the needs of the American people.” And I disagree that he’s the best of a bad situation. In fact, I’d say the rest of the pack looks pretty good in comparison. For that, maybe the Republican field should be grateful. I’m sure the Democrats are rooting for him to win the nomination.

I like the P.T. Barnum comparison. I’ve been struggling to find something or someone appropriate to compare him to, and until now the best I’ve been able to do is “bag of wind” or “hot air balloon.”

I used to watch The Apprentice as well, and even the first season or two of “Celebrity Apprentice,” but it got to the point that I couldn’t stand watching him anymore. He seemed to be just so personally unpleasant and full of himself. Plus I couldn’t stand the simultaneously condescending and creepy way he spoke to any remotely attractive woman. As well as the vaguely homophobic way he used to respond to anything less than conventionally masculine behavior from male contestants. And although his daughter was OK (and probably way smarter than he is), his son was a completely embarrassing buffoon.

Even Ann Coulter said that it would be hard for any GOP candidate to beat Bernie Sanders if he were elected.

I actually saw an interesting clip from CNN this morning about how almost every other GOP candidate thus far (with the exception of Pataki, I think) has been asked to react to something Trump has said. This shows that he is gaining attention and saying things that should conjure a response from his opponents. For G-D’s sake, not every candidate has declared yet! He went after Jeb for not being able to tie a tie, and Marco Rubio for his hair style. Really? Trump going after people for their hair style?

EDIT: Also, Dan Loeb is keeping Trump in his repertoire for candidates he is considering supporting in 2016. He is a HUGE donator to the Democratic Party. If he is considering voting for a Republican, he must think Trump is pretty special.

Trump has already intimated that if the Republican party doesn’t allow him to participate in the debates, he may run as an independent. I think all good Democrats should encourage that.

That’s probably just talk. He knows he would never get anywhere as an independent, even if he was nominated. He’s I believe one of the top 3 in the polls right now, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t let him participate.

codemachine- He has about three months, counting allowable extensions, to file his financial statement papers in order to participate in the debates. My bet is he will exit the stage about that time.

Well that DJT for you. Once again, I dont see why he’s withholding that.

I’ve always wondered what the Donald’s hair looks like in the shower? How far down does that swirl of dyed floss hang down when wet?

Our country is becoming more and more like the capitol city in the Hunger Games.

I couldn’t get through the first Hunger Games movie. My daugher and Jennifer Lawrence resemble each other a little bit.

I was watching the movie and I thought, “Omg! They are trying to kill my daughter. They are trying to kill my daughter!”
I stopped watching.

So… I don’t get Hunger Games references.

I don’t understand the hair either. I would think Trump could afford a toupee. Of course, if Trump really is a want to tell the truth kind of guy, he would stop playing games with his hair.

Homer for president!

Lol!!!’

In a sense Trump is trying to cater to the ‘anti candidate’ kind of voter, the ones who complain about ‘career politicians’ (yet support their local congressman, who has been in office for 99 thousand years, and the senator who has been in office longer than that lol). Some of the issues he brings up are valid, his criticisms of China are dead spot on, of taking advantage of free trade while blocking anything but the import of raw materials (you think facebook and amazon are blocked in china purely for political reasons? Or Cisco being blocked is because of claims of ‘spying’), or that Chinese public companies aren’t a time bomb ready to go off at any point, or that China’s version of R and D is basically industrial espionage or outright copying intellectual property?

But the rest? He probably is thinking 'boy, there are a lot of stupid people out that if I pander to what they believe, will make them vote for me…add to that I had a successful tv program, and that to them I am this rich genius, and gotta believe they’ll love me". Add to that the adoration the media gives him, and it is a gigantic ego trip. In political season full of clowns, he is the Bozo balloon in the Macy’s parade

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Please do not cross that fine line to the political side.

Trump definitely did not invent political clowning. I guess my friend is not too far off saying that Trump is trying to become our (milder) version of this crazy dude:

I would not count out Trump as an independent in the long game. I’m sure most of you remember Ross Perot. Trump is a different flavor of crazy, but still very similar.

Well, everybody is bought out, every single one. Nobody can buy out Trump, he would not care for their pennies (in comparison). He would not accept anybody’s offer, he cannot be sold.

As far as 'NOBODY LIKE HIM", my estimate is the noise reflects the degree of being scared. He can say whatever truth he wants to say, nobody can boss him, he is the only one who does not go around with the stretched arm. he knows the reaction his politically incorrect statements will cause, dies he care?

Mr. Trump is coming here to Arizona tomorrow, specifically in a public Phoenix convention center. If anyone here is familiar with our state, then you know we border Mexico and have a ton of illegals here. Should be interesting listening to what he has to say.
