Why is Donald Trump a thing?

I’m sure his advisors are keeping under wraps as best they can. He can only be crude in his stances to a point where absolutely no one takes him seriously anymore.

I could be way off base, but count me among those who think Trump will withdraw before he has to file all the financial paperwork. He would hate running for president. My H has had a number of meetings with the guy, and he tells some pretty weird stories.

Trump doesn’t shake hands with most people because he’s a germophobe. So he only shakes hands with people he deems to be at his level (more or less) but not anyone else. That could make the rope line pretty interesting.

He also insists that anyone in the room with him call him Mr. trump, and of course he calls everyone else by their first names. This is true of even his closest business associates.

Someone up thread said his father was the self-made man. I am not sure, but I believe that’s incorrect. I believe Trump’s grandfather was the first immigrant, and the one who first made money. He went from Germamy to Alaska and made a fortune owning a brothel. He or his son then took the money to NYC and started investing in real estate. So actually Trump is third generation money.

And speaking of money, Trump is not the wonderful manager and businessman many think him. He doesn’t actually run much of anything. He markets his own brand, and sells the use of his name. That’s his main skill and his real product. The only time he admits this is when someone brings up one of the ventures which went bankrupt, when he immediately says oh, that wasn’t his fault, it was just someone using his name. But his name is the main thing he sells.

I would love to hear why anyone here thinks he cares about people. He’s never shown any evidence of that that I’ve ever seen.

People used his name to sell condos in Mexico a while back. IIRC. I think they told me it’s a Trump condos.

He’ll drop out. He’ll get bored, or rage quit. His mouth will eventually serve as detonator for that bulging time bomb between his ears (his massive personality disorder), and we’ll all get to witness it recur ad nauseum via the 24hr. news cycle. When even his most ardent supporters are left sitting slack-jawed on the couch in front of their televisions, no shortage of talking heads will gleefully postulate the reasons for why it took so long to happen. And we, the denizens of CC will also gather to conduct our own post-Mortem. :-/

" He went after Jeb for not being able to tie a tie, and Marco Rubio for his hair style. Really? Trump going after people for their hair style?"

That’s hilarious! And pretty ballsey. Going after Rubio for his hair style.

There were many beautiful young women with him at that announcement, all of them flipping their hair and none of them knowing anything about politics.

Just more proof that he’s out of touch. You can’t run for president while reminding us that he runs beauty pageants.

He’s an old guy with a harem…maybe he should run for President of the Playboy Mansion.

Oh no then you have to pay $2 million a year to have some sort of sex with a playboy bunny.

Maybe he should run for President of The Hair Club.

Oh, it’s going to be so much fun to see how this plays out!! I love election years – they’re so silly!!

I’m just looking forward to Rosie O’Donnell commenting on him ;p

Rosie O’Donnell, she is sooo predictably boring, but I love Sleepless in Seattle, she just got lucky to be part of the great movie…and she knows a lot about politics and ing else, I guess, it takes a lot of brain to bark at everybody who is outside of c------nist ideology, she got that one nailed, but then it makes her predictable and boring

But even if Trump had catered his campaign to her interests, she would still talk smack about him because of their past. When she has a bias like that, theres no point in her discussing these things,

They had a past? I never watched these type of shows, not even Oprah.

Among others. It’s hard to find enough information to post here, but it was well documented (they went to court over it).

It was covered extensively in the print media.

They were his daughters (3 of them) and the others his DILs.

Whatever people think of him, he sure has one beautiful family, takes great care of them well, and keeps them all together. I am not sure the women know nothing about politics given that one of the women is now president of Trump Inc. largest, most successful division. If knowing nothing about politics is meant as they do not play the political game others in the country play, then I agree.

Basically, you have to keep in mind that Trump is about Trump, everything in his life is about ego and vanity, in some ways he is kind of like the Kardashians, where their shtick in life is being famous. The man has never been low key, he has always been about the big show, the big me, he is the showman and so forth. So if you have done everything else, running for office is kind of the next big ego booster, to get your name in the papers and media, and otherwise ‘be relevant’. I doubt he really cares whether he runs or wins, I think it is about him simply keeping his name out there.

I remember Trump did dish Hanna an actress who was dating JFK Jr because of a comment she made. He doesn’t seem to like people who doesn’t like him.

He’s a thing because he speaks his mind and the special interests can’t buy him off. Same thing for Bernie Sanders. I would love to see the two of them go head to head.

Sure, he has awful hair and several marriages and other issues. But people are tired of lying career politicians, I think.

This, totally!
