Why is Hotchkiss not in the Green Cup Challenge?

Does anyone have any clue why Hotchkiss is not doing in the Green Cup Challenge this year? I saw the 2009 list of participating schools on the Deerfield website, and Hotchkiss is certainly not present. Kafkareborn? You go to Hotchkiss, right?

Here’s the link, so take a look for yourself:
[Green Cup Challenge :: Deerfield Academy :: an independent, coeducational boarding high school](http://www.deerfield.edu/slife/index.cfm?page_id=314)

I was just wondering, since there’s a strong possibility I’ll attend Hotchkiss, and I want to be involved in the Green Cup Challenge!

WHAT!?!?!
I was looking forward to participating in that! It sounded kind of fun; judging from some of the green cup videos I’ve seen online, things can get pretty hilarious. I’m probably attending Hotchkiss, too, and am interested to see what this is about.

Maybe because they actually managed to incease electrical usagr last year (!?!)

Say, who won this year?

Lol, I don’t think the school wants to risk that embarrassment again. I mean…how do you raise it? Atleast stay the same.

Well, NMH…who started the green cup…probably did not do so well this year. On the first day, a pipe burst in one of the dorms and they had to run huge fans night and day to dry things out.

SALISBURY SCHOOL wins the 2009 Greencup Challenge!! Their video receives Honorable Mention.

1) GREEN CUP CHALLENGE 2009 WINNERS

Division BI: Salisbury School
Division BII: N/A 2009
Division DI: Princeton Day School
Division DII: Greensboro School

Why, thank you Sarum – that trophy will look very nice sitting next to that DI Hockey trophy…

Hotchkiss is still in the green cup challange no idea why it is not on that site in fact the cofounder of the green cup challange works here! We actually spend less energy than most schoool (we just do not decrease our usage by much during the challange that one year anyway) we get1/3 of our energy from wind power we were the first school in America to do so. Of coourse If you subtract the energy we produce ourselves we would. Always win greeencup but that probably would not be fair…or interesting for that matter

Maybe JUST incase you guys increased again they didn’t want to put it up there.

^ lol, I still don’t get how you increased… Still one of the more conservative schools, but still… haha

Always interested in Kafkareborn’s spin and interpretation of results to favor Hotchkiss. I heard Hotchkiss could have won the NE Div. 1 Hockey championships as well if they had tried.
I know there is a place for you in Washington DC. somewhere when you’re ready. Maybe in Obama’s new budget department?

I get how you can increase energy usage…with the winter months starting, heating will start to be used/used more. Since Hotchkiss uses such a little amount of energy in the first place, you can’t go down much further.

I have a hunch that some schools (though unethically) try to use as much energy as possible in the weeks before the Green Cup Challenge so that there’s nowhere to go but down.

I doubt that, using super lot and going down…

Actually, I noticed that on the Green Cup website that Hotchkiss is present, but Deerfield is not?! Check it out for yourself:

Funny, yes… Neither is Milton… That could be due to the fact that Milton is only 50% day.

I just thought that it is particularly interesting that Deerfield is not there because theirs is the website that I got the Hotchkiss info off of…

Yup, exactly. I remember my school did terrible the first year because we had long winter weekend right before it all started - so like no energy got used because no one was on campus for 4 days so obviously our usage was going to go up.

Yeah, but then why didn’t other schools de-improve?
