why is it 'has brought' and not 'brought'

The Papago Indians of southern Arizona take justifiable pride in their traditional craft of basket-weaving, an art that has brought them fame throughout the Southwest.

Why is it ‘has brought’ and not simply, ‘brought’ ?? I hate these type of errors.

Also,

The exchange between the teacher and the student promotes learning far different from that which results as the student listens but does not participate.

The book says that the error is AS, but wouldn’t the error be DIFFERENT? Shouldn’t it be DIFFERENTLY?

tense needs to be parallel. ‘take’ suggests that the action is still occuring, while ‘brought’ suggests it already occurred. Has Brought fits the tense needed

No different works, you can use and adj there because its describing the learning, not promoting. As should be from

I think as should be when, not from
