WHy is my ACT score so much better!

I got a 33 on my act and slightly less than a 2000 on my SAT! Why is it so much lower. The top tier schools I am applying to are WASHU and CORNELL (ILR) but is this going to look bad. Iv been researching schools and many of the other institutions I am applying to recieve less than 20 (Most of the time 10) percent of applicants that solely give their ACT! I only want to submit my ACT! Is this possible??!?!

I think it is possible, in that if they say they’ll take either, it should not hurt you to just send the ACT scores. However, if you took (or plan to take) any SAT IIs with good scores that you want colleges to see, you would not be able to send them without giving colleges your SAT I scores as well (I think).

Colleges will not consider your SAT score even though they will see it. It’s one thing you do not need to drive yourself crazy over.

Cornell requires two SAT IIs regardless of whether you submit the SAT or ACT. When you send those II scores, College Board will automatically also send your SAT score to Cornell. However, for admission, Cornell will use your higher ACT score over that SAT score. Wash U does not require IIs and thus you can send only your ACT. A number of colleges that usually require SAT IIs will accept ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs and thus you can send ACT only to those (examples: Yale, Penn, Brown, Tufts, Amherst, Pomona) . However, for those colleges, if you get some high IIs, you probably want to send them anyway and all follow the policy of using whichever is higher between your ACT and SAT.

After doing the online test, no wonder more people are sending these scores instead of SAT scores. You have the option of sending which scores to send, the SAT’s will be losing ground to the ACT test.
