Why is Rochester SO EXPENSIVE?!

<p>Ok, i got accepted. I got 39,000 out of 45,000 so i shouldnt be complaining BUT, im sure many of us want to know this particular question:</p>

<p>WHY IS ROCHESTER SO EXPENSIVE? Please comment on this phenomenon when Ivy’s arent even this expensive.</p>

<p>Ivy’s have huge endowments…hell Harvard has an investment portfolio that is downright insane. (ie they have more money to throw around…)</p>

<p>yeah. ivies can probably not charge tuition and get away with it easily. and anyway, ivies aren’t the most expensive schools out there (partly because of all that money). those LAC’s? some of them also charge more than ivies.</p>

<p>wait you’re getting 39k in aid and you complaining, my package is barely 10k and I can barely scrap by if i took 160k in loans.</p>

<p>Education in the US is a commodity, everywhere you go its insanely expensive, even state schools are getting there. TCNJ is 18k a year for instate students. For ~200$ a semester you can go to India and IIT, one of the toughest and best engineerning schools in the world.+</p>

<p>very true… i m getting a crappy package as well… mostly loans and only about a 10 k grant, and my parents have to shell out the rest. I was really dissapointed with the aid i got. And yea i agree about the IIT thing too, its so much cheaper but the competition is actually insane!!!</p>

<p>i have crappy aid too. I’m disappointed as well. 13k TOTAL while my EFC is 2200. >_<</p>
