Why is TASP a hook?

I just noticed that on all those form things that rejected/accepted kids fill out on CC for the schools they heard from, under hooks it says something like (TASP, RSI, etc.).

What is TASP?

Why is it a hook?

It’s a summer program for high school students, and it’s not a hook.

I would argue that it’s the best possible extra-curricular, and it is more of a “hook” than being legacy or URM.

It’s not a hook, but it is competitive.

Yeah, it’d definitely be more advantageous than legacy, but might not be much more of a hook than URM (especially if one was Eskimo or Native American or something else relatively obscure).

wmmk - The term is Inuit.

TASP is a hook because it is known for picking the most intelligent, creative, engaging students from around the country in a very selective process.
