Why is there no economics subject test?

It seems quite logical that there would be one given the popularity of AP Micro/Macro. I am quite confident there would be a lot more people that would take that as apposed to some of the language subject tests. Additionally it would allow kids who plan to major in business a subject test to show their skills.

It probably has something to do with the fact that College Board would not be able to create a multiple choice Econ test that could probably gauge a test taker’s mastery of the subject. Economics is more about creating models than interpreting them.

I agree. There should definitely be a Economics Subject test!

It would be too difficult to develop because after a while, all the questions would pretty much be the same thing. Econ is too focused of a subject to be overall tested on. If it became a subject test, the curve would be ridiculously difficult.

I mean they can pull questions of the AP Macro/ Micro multiple choice parts. Econ is like a science so I am sure they can come up with enough unique questions. Not having a econ subject test leaves a huge gap for aspiring econ/business majors which coincidentally are some of the most popular majorr ts fohe top schools that require subject tests.

I agree with what everyone else said.

Yeah, CB could pull from AP Econ MC, but the question is whether that multiple choice alone would be a good indication of mastery. With regards to this specific subject, I think that the answer is no.
