WHy is USC ba/md hard to get in ?

bummmmmmmp…
Can you guys take a chance on me
SAT: 1990
verbal: 630
math:700
writing: 660 (11 on essay)
SAT 2C: 790
SAT 2 bio:790
SAt 2 chem: 790
Gpa:4.4

sorry its a definite reject. There is no way with that sat score.

the highest possible score i can get is is a 2130
will that give me any chances on other ba/md
or should i give up now and just go do undergrad at USC?

The highest possible score you can get is a 2400. Don’t limit yourself…you have to have this mindset or you will fall short of your goals many times. Just study hard and retake. I know someone who improved his score from 2090 to 2340 (highest combined) in just 3 months!

You should use Barrons and other difficult test books. Don’t settle for easy study guides like Princeton Review and Kaplan.

i agree that it would be tough with that sat score. you definitely have good sat 2 scores though - your chem was way higher than mine  but definitely take sickofflorida’s advice and study hard with those practice tests - they help! plus, you didn’t post extracurriculars, but i would stress those big time. they like to see a personality at usc

are there other less competitive ba/md programs that i have a chance to get into with my current stats…or is it try harder on your sat scores.

try harder on sats but you have a good shot at the drexel program with your current scores.

thank you foodisgood

I have to decide between USC Bacc/MD and Case PPSP. Which would you choose and why.

USC!! I’m biased… because I’m going there (98% sure). However, I heard (not sure if this is true) that USC’s Bac/MD has a better reputation. Also, the “Trojan Family” connections and the general community atmosphere that you’ll get with the Bac/MD program @ USC seem awesome. I have to admit, I don’t know much about the other program … but these are just my $0.02 about USC’s program :-d!

i dunno Southern Cali vs Ohio, tough choice ;)

whose applying this year!!! I’ve been reading these posts for almost two years now, and its my turn to apply now…im kinda nervous…

i am
o yah i just received November sat= 2300 :)

veryyy nice madamebovary

good job, that’s a great improvement. I don’t want to make this a chances thread, but could some of you, who’ve been accepted to the interview and the program itself, give me advice on what I could do better. Thanks.

11th grade
gpa- 4.4
SATI: 2200
reading: 710
math: 700
writing: 790
SATII CHEM: 790

research
hospital volunteer
eagle scout
science olympiad
etc.

well based on our sat and sat 2s and gpa, we should be set. extra curricular, im not too familiar with because we pretty much have similar stuff. wait kannada, i thought you score way higher than that on november sat

does USC take into account the writing section of the SAT I’s…because i did horrible on the writing section (680), but i have a 1550 w/o it.

when i went to the USC college of Arts and science interview, they asked for all of the scores. i think they care about the writing now. last year they didnt.

hey guys…im also applying to this program

hey,
to all of you applying to bac/md at usc… i’m a freshman in the program here and i absolutely love it! it’s probably the best program ever. scores are important, but it’s not all about the numbers. they want to know that you are a dynamic, friendly person who will become a great doctor, not a great scientist. our bac/md class is such a diverse group, and it’s great! best of luck to all of you in your applications!
