I have yet to see a Umich rejection this early on. You sure it wasn’t a deferral?

Some of these places have rolling admissions, so yes you can be rejected by now.

If you were rejected by all of your “safeties” then clearly you didn’t have any real true safeties on your list. By definition a safety is a school where you are guaranteed admission based on your grades and/or test scores. Many public universities publish this information right on their websites.

If your dad won’t pay 30k for U of Iowa (which is a perfectly decent public university by the way), what make you think he’ll pay for anything in North Dakota? What is his cut-off cost for a university there?

Sorry if things are truely not working out for you, but not sure how you could have been denied already at UW - Seattle when decisions don’t start getting announced until 3/15.

^^and there you go…weird thread

Rodney’s right: This thread is fishy. And, Iowa, a lower-level public? Whatever. Find a public in a Dakota or find a good CC for a year or two.

It looks like dad wants OP to be an engineer or possibly a hard science pre-med. I think dad made up the application list with little regard to OPs credentials. OP applied to the schools and programs which were pre-approved. It appears that OP realizes that March might bring a slew of negative news and is hedging his bets. Finances are only an issue in so far as dad won’t pay full fare for any school where OP can actually get admitted because of perceived prestige issues.

If this student doesn’t think Iowa is affordable, then he has a financial issue…he didn’t apply to the right OOS publics to give him merit for his stats.

I think if he applied to UA-Huntsville, he might still get a good-sized scholarship…UA-H is strong in engineering and sciences (for pre-med). There are co-op and internship opportunities since the university is located within Cummings Research Park.

When you start a thread with a blatant falsehood, you are wasting the time of many kindhearted people who are trying to help you. Not cool. (I also doubt OP got an informal rejection from each school–what admissions person would do this?)
