Why not? Chances for Vanderbilt/Northwestern/Rice/Duke/

Dont know much about this process, but here goes:
I’m a junior at a new high school in Texas. It’s the school’s third year to exist and the first graduating class ever graduates this year.
I’m ranked 19 out of a class of about 567
PSAT: 221
SAT: Get my score on Thursday (I’m freaking out) Last practice test was a 2280

GPA:3.99
AP Classes so far-
AP Human Geography:5
AP World History:4 (Still angry about it)

AP tests to take this year/next year-
AP Biology, AP English 3, AP US History, AP Spanish 4, AP Calculus AB, AP Environmental Science, AP English 4, AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP Spanish 5

Other stuff-
1 year freshman football, 3 years varsity football
4 years track (shotput/running)
National Honor Society
President of Spanish Honor Society
Math Club
All-District Honorable Mention team for football this year (Hopefully first team next year)
3 year Superintendent Scholar
1st Place regionally in freshman year National Spanish Exam (Got a trophy and the gold certificate thing)
221 Junior Year PSAT (Last years NM cutoff was 216 and it’s never been above 219 so hopefully I’m good to be a finalist)
Coordinated a Music Festival Fundraiser benefit to raise money for a clsssmate who had $500,000+ in medical bills form a car wreck
Was one of six students chosen to serve on a student panel to represent the school for Chinese delegates.

Should I take SAT subject tests? No one at my school has ever said anything about them. And what about the ACT? Everything in Texas is all about the SAT and that’s what I’ve been preparing for for the last two years but now I’m hearing that northern schools like the ACT better? Should I really take it with minimal preparation?

Thanks!

Sent from my SGH-T999 using CC

You should do SAT subject tests or the ACT (you need one or the other for many colleges). You can do both, or just whichever sounds easier to you. Northern schools really don’t care which you submit though; no schools really do.

I would definitely apply to all of them, as your stats will give you a good chance at all four.

All should be low reach if you have good essays and recs. Good luck!

Soft schedule. Where’s AP Maths/Sciences
