<p>I need help with my ‘why penn’ essay. I dont know much about the math department; could someone tell me something about it cause i’m applying for math as my major? And I need the essay to be interesting and unique, something thatll mention stuff about the courses that only penn offers.</p>
<p>And by writing such an essay your essay will be exactly the same as everyone elses.</p>
<p>Anyway, for math major, I would suggest something on the following lines:</p>
<p>“I have never liked to have things handed to me, to do things the easy way. I want to fight. For knowledge. For love. For everything. And when I visited Penn I realized that the only right thing for me to do would be to live in the highrises, so that I would have to struggle every day back and forth to the distant David Rittenhouse Lab. I look forward to fighting my way through the cold blizzard coming in from the Schuylkill so that I can attend the math department where I have to fight for what I want to learn”.</p>
<p>David Rittenhouse Lab is infamous for being far off (though it actually is only five minutes walk from the quad).</p>

<p>My point with the post was to point out that you should write something interesting that is your own idea. Not someone else’s idea.</p>
<p>What if every math major applying RD writes about how they like to struggle their way to DRL? Doesn’ really make you stick out of the crowd does it?</p>
