Why Princeton is a Good Match for Early Decision

I talked my counselor yesterday about doing Princeton early. She was very willing to help me write a good rec. However, she ask, “If applying early to Princeton, explain why the school is a good match for you?”

She wants me to write a 1000 words paragraph, then she will use that as the reference to write the rec for me.

Can anybody tell me some special features about Princeton that explain why the good match for YOU?

What will you do to make your counselor write the best rec ever?

Do you not know why it’s a good match for YOU?

Of course, I know why I like the school. But to tie my own merits into why this school is a “good match” for myself seems to be a very difficult task. Please help?!!

It’s a good match exactly for the reasons why you like it. That’s what match means. My reasons (best math department in the world, best crew team in the nation, most amazing pizza ever) don’t apply to you.

I’d suggest writing your paragraph and then posting it here and letting us tell you if there’s anything to add. But seriously, no one’s reasons for matching Princeton are going to be the same. If you can’t pinpoint exactly why you want to be a Tiger, then there’s a problem.

A 1000 word paragraph? That’s a hardcore counselor!

lol i’m still trying to get over the fact that you’re back in school already… my school doesn’t start for another two and a half weeks!

By the way, are the graduate schools good at Princeton? I looked at the latest U.S. News ranking for graduate school. Shocked, I cannot event find Princeton in any of the top 50 law school, business school, medical school, etc.

How good is the graduate program there?

LOL! sorry.

Princeton doesn’t have any medical, law, or business schools. They have graduate programs, mostly in the Woodrow Wilson School, sciences, and engineering,…but no med, law, or business.

Princeton’s grad programs are pretty good though…however, I don’t know if I’d want to go to Princeton grad school since the focus wouldn’t be on me, but instead on the undergrads ;)

Just research Princeton online and find all the cool and interesting stuff that makes you a good match for the school. Find stuff you want to know more about. (Senior thesis, junior paper, good ice cream parlors, specific professors, etc etc…)
