Why Princeton

Whoa whoa whoa. No USC hate here. USC’s a great school; there’s no denying it. Is it as good as Princeton? No. As good as UCLA? I definitely think it competes. I know I was going to apply there (Marshall) over UCLA, but then again a lot of that had to do with my major choice…still, fight on!

yeah, hehe we call ucla, university of caucasians lost among asians. lol. just a random tid bit of info. funny how CA got into this thread.

i chose princeton cause the undergrad education can’t be beat, but also because when i was there, the people and just the atmosphere fit me the best. everywhere else i went couldn’t compare.

haha…yeah, I say UCLA and Princeton need to switch locations (or, better yet, UC Berkeley and Princeton–I’m a bay area girl). and that’s funny…well, I’d be proud to be a caucasian lost among asians, so yay!

Asserting that Princeton’s undergraduate focus is unmatched by both Harvard and Yale simply isn’t true. While I would agree that Harvard lacks focus on its undergrads, Yale has gained a certain reputation for just the opposite. But personally, I wouldn’t spring for any of the “Big 3”…go to Cornell instead. :)

CU '08

Most of you guys argued that Princeton is the most focused on undergraduate education than the rest of the Ivy Leaugue. Even if this is true, how can you tell that the teaching is superb? Princeton resembles other ivy league college in which the professors are at the top of their field and predominant researches. How do you know that the faculty even though they teach only undergrads won’t be too busy with their research and responsibilities to have their teaching meet your expectations?

how’s princeton’s graduate philosophy department? (and which philo department is considered the best?)

Private_Joker: I just don’t have those expectations. I think really great teaching is rare no matter where you go…

Why did i choose Princeton? WHY DID I CHOOSE PRINCETON?!!! ILL TELL YOU WHY!!!

jk…i choose Princeton b/c…well let my former self tell you:

(extrait from my “long-running” chances thread) I want to go to Princeton b/c I am attracted to its ORFE major and certificate policy. I like the fact that it places emphasis on undergraduate education. I think undergrad research is a unique opportunity. And finally, it has the name.

…which pretty much still stands. Now the question that remains is…

(extrait from my new thread) Is Princeton an inversion…or will the talent (aka other brilliant students) drown you out into oblivion and, potentially, make your attendance to a prestigious university a complete and disasterous waste of money?

so there you have it…the good, bad, and ugly. thats why i chose princeton and thats why i might choose not to go there.

The Daily Princetonian;
this says it all

lol…read the article about changing the name

i’d cry if they changed their name. Princeton is so pretty…

Anyway, Princeton has an AMAZING undergrad program, but it’s in a great area as well. The campus is absolutely beautiful, and it’s very “clean”. Also, it’s an hour away from NYC and Philly…

What Portlander said and…they really seam to get an idea about who the applicant is through the application. I like the thesis paper they do. I like that they are unique. I like how their engineering program sounds. I can picture myself there. It is perfect!

One thing though…why are they increasing their class sizes? I origionally liked it for also being small. By the time I go they will have increased their class size by about 2 or 3 hundred I hear.

lol ahahha that joke article was so funny.
Oh I still heart Princeton.
