I’ve been wondering about the purpose of SAT II exams. If I can pass an AP exam with a 4 or a 5 (lets say, Physics), is it necessary to take the SAT II for Physics?

I guess my question is simply this: Why take an SAT II exam if I can do really well on an AP exam?

Required (this year and next) to apply to UC’s and others.

In every state, a subject is taught differently due to state standards. So, to solve this problem whether this person from this state knows more than another person from another state, collegeboard created the SAT II subject exams to see if the necessary material was taught to the students.

I feel the same way as you. If you have taken the AP exam, a more rigorous standardized test than the SAT II, why take the SAT II then? AP exam covers more material than does the subject test.
