I got recently burned because I never took the time to put aside some emergency money for a rainy day.
And then, to add insult to injury, I came across this article that lays out just how stupid it is NOT to put money into an emergency fund. It makes some really good points and is quite short. Here’s an excerpt:

In the beginning of the movie I am Legend, Will Smith (aka The Legend) drives through the chaotic streets of Manhattan in his get the hell outta my way black SUV while other people are running around because the government is about to blow up the island to stop a zombie-virus outbreak. How does Will Smith handle this crisis? He tells his wife to withdraw emergency cash in case things go wrong.

Now, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, except in one subject: Will Smith is a Certified Badass. A certified badass who puts away money into an emergency fund whenever his badass paycheck comes in. Dont you want to be like Will Smith?

The article is here:
[Emergency Cash - How and Why you should put some aside | Where The Money At?](<a href=“http://wherethemoney.at/your-money/emergency-cash-how-and-why-you-should-put-some-aside/]Emergency ”>http://wherethemoney.at/your-money/emergency-cash-how-and-why-you-should-put-some-aside/ )

The article then goes on to lay out how to save and how much, etc. Anyway, it’s a pretty entertaining read.

So I’m curious - Do you guys save any money for emergencies in college?

ROFL

This ranks right up there with the Facebook app “How long would you survive the coming zombie apocalypse?”

Here’s a hint… always go for a shotgun and claymores.
