Why was I accepted to Oxford but not Emory?
Is Oxford the “dumb” emory?

The College of Arts and Sciences and Oxford have completely independent admissions processes. Some students are accepted or rejected at both, while others are accepted but rejected (or waitlisted) at the other. It comes down to fit, interest, and stats. As you’ll see just on CC, there were a number of students rejected or waitlisted at Oxford but accepted at CAS. Admittedly, it is true that Oxford’s average incoming GPA and test scores are lower than those of CAS, but this is because the program isn’t as well known as the College of Arts and Sciences and, frankly, because the school isn’t for everyone–this isn’t about just accepting those with the highest grades and test scores.

Since you’re prelaw and from my state, I thought I’d note that I’ve heard anecdotally that Davidson and Wake Forest are known for grade deflation.

Emory is definitely more difficult to get into.
There are times, however, when somebody will be rejected at Oxford and admitted to Emory’s main campus. This is likely only a result of an extreme lack of interest. I’m sure Emory’s campus wins cross admits from Oxford over 90% of the time.

Either way, you will graduate from Emory.
If you think you would like Oxford, I wouldn’t stress about it.
