Wiating List is Full!?

I tried adding a course (full) and then requested to be put on the waiting list, only to be told “You are unable to be placed on the Waiting List because the Waiting List is full.” WFT???

What is there to do in this situation? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I also had this same experience during the first minute of my telebears this morning with Chem3A. Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated! Also, is anyone getting “Login to CAS has Failed!” when attempting to log into telebears?

Good news: I was put onto the wait-list after trying again ever hour. Eventually, around 10pm, I was magically given a spot!

For those of you still trying (and freaking out like I was), I sent an e-mail to the professor describing my situation: I truly needed THIS class for THIS semester for my major prerequisites and was backed into an unbearable corner. Simply see if there’s any way that s/he can help you or give advice on making it onto the wait-list.

people shift around, dropping classes as they move into new ones or new sections. A waitlist that is full might show up with an open spot if you have good timing.

If the waitlist for your class is cleared automatically, that means that on the weekends, if there are openings in the class, an automatic run will take people off the waitlist and confirm them in the order they sit on the waitlist (subject to categories if the class has multiple categories and not all are open). However, someone who drops the class on a Monday, for instance, may leave an open slot sitting there until the weekend. Anyone who is on telebears and tries to register for that class, now having an open slot, will get a confirmed seat, effectively having jumped ahead of the wait list.

If the waitlist is cleared manually, the same potential exists, however, the timing of when the open slots are filled from the waitlist is not so clearly defined. The instructor or department has the option of picking someone from the waitlist for each opening, using whatever factors they wish, ignoring the numbering of the waiting students. If you are on a manual waitlist, it is very very helpful to have made your case to the instructor ahead of slots opening, as they may reach in an pluck you out of line instead of others.
