Hi parents, do you know a place where we can get the ticket for broadway show “Wicked” at a reasonable price? Thanks.

I am far from an expert on this, but my daughter is very into all things Broadway, she’s actually seeing a show right now on a school class trip or I’d ask her for you. But I do think I’ve heard her say that Wicked plays to very packed houses and rarely are there seats available at the TKTS booth. You should check out their website, some shows have a lottery for unsold tickets on the morning of the show. And student rush tickets. But they may not have too many.

As the poster said above, you probably won’t find discounted tix for Wicked. But you can stand in line (starting at around 8:00 am for a matinee) to purchase unsold tickets and you can enter the lottery that they do for front row seats offered at a very discounted price at each show. You must have cash ready to pay for the tickets if you win and you have to be present when they do the drawing.

This show is worth every penny you pay, though, regardless of price!!

Here’s a link to the TKTS website:
[TKTS Discount Booths](<a href=“Discount Broadway Tickets for On, Off & Off-Off Shows | TKTS by TDF | TDF - Theatre Development Fund”>Discount Broadway Tickets for On, Off & Off-Off Shows | TKTS by TDF | TDF - Theatre Development Fund)

Thanks! If you have more info please send it here. I really want to see it. but the lowest price we could find is like $250. we can’t afford that. :(

We have done exactly this: on the Wed matinee, they do a lottery drawing at 12N. You must have a picture ID. You enter you name. If you are lucky you get 2 tickets for 25.00 cash each. If you are with another person, then your chances are doubled.
My daughter was fortunate to be chosen, so she and a friend saw it. I did see this in previews when it first came out. Worth every penny.
BTW, if you are chosen, you do not have to take the 2 tickets, you can take 1, but people do offer their spare to another lone person in the crowd if they weren’t chosen.

We did this 3 summers ago for the Saturday matinee. Waited outside the theatre in the morning for unsold tickets. We got 2 great seats that were $85 each. Not cheap but like everyone else said SO worth it.

Wicked tickets at the box office aren’t $250 - you must be pulling up a ticket broker’s website. Look at Ticketmaster - good seats are $125ish, mezz are <$100.

It’s a great show - I saw it with original cast 4 months after it opened and then a year later with D1, who still doesn’t forgive me that I didn’t take her to see the original cast.

Check broadwaybox.com – sometimes there are discount codes there. Also join playbill.com for discounts. Finally, be wiiling to sit in the mezzanine or balcony – a Broadway theatre isn’t that large, and kiddo and I have seen most of the shows we’ve attended from the rafters. Enjoy!

Yeah, $250 is a huge mark-up. We saw Wicked (for the first time) by standing in line early in the morning of the show and purchasing un-sold or cancelled tickets when the box office opened. I think we were 2nd in line (again, we were there by 8 or 9 and waited for several hours). We had front row, center, balcony seats and it was INCREDIBLE. They were less than $100 each (don’t remember the exact price) and worth every cent. And this was the day before Idina Menzel won the Tony for the role of Elpheba…

If OP found tickets to be $250, then it’s probably sold out the dates she is in NY and only tickets from brokers are available. We had to pay these prices for The Book of Mormon this week because my H just had to see the show on this particular day.

Took my D to see it in Feb. I was unable to find discounted tickets. We paid around $90 each for the tickets from the official ticket vendor, Ticketmaster??? Seats were in the balcony towards the back but I have to tell you they were great seats anyway. Good luck.

my parents would be willing to pay anything below $100/ticket. I really want to see it! We only looked on internet. where else should we look??

Tickets for Wicked start around $62. Check on playbill.com and there is a button where you can check dates on Ticketmaster. If you only have one date available to go and you want the least expensive tickets, you may have a problem because it remains a popular show. There are no discounted tickets for shows that routinely sell out week after week. There is, however, a lottery that you may want to try but most people do not win, as with most lotteries. :)

Here are the details:

There are also sometimes house seats that are released an hour or two before the show but this is also not guaranteed. If someone is going to the city and wants to be sure to see a particular show, neither of these options is a good one.

Really the only way to guarantee any seat that isn’t a premium seat for one particular show is the purchase the tickets as soon as that block is released, which is usually months in advance.

cbreeze, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the show is sold out. It more likely is that premium seats are the only ones left. More and more seats are now classified as premium seats for Broadway shows. $250 is about mid-range for premium seating prices.
