I have been getting pretty wierd emails from UCSD… have anyone of you been getting them also? Here is what it says:

ALL FACULTY AND STAFF AT UCSD (including Health Sciences)
ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT: Reminder: Survey of the Use of Library Resources

The campus is continuing to conduct a twelve-month survey of the use of
library resources. The survey, which has both online and paper
components, is part of a cost analysis of library usage which may
benefit the Libraries’ budget.

The online survey appears for two hours each month, at different times
each month, every time you access designated websites or use selected
library services. The three-question survey should take less than one
minute to answer, after which you will be connected to the website or
service you requested.

The paper survey is given in campus libraries during selected periods
each month. A survey is handed out at the door and recipients asked to
return the completed survey when they exit the building.

The survey methodology has been designed to comply with requirements for
cost analyses of this type.

Thank you in advance for your help in completing the survey should you
receive it. A high response rate will strengthen justifications for
resources to enhance library services.

yes i got those, already deleted them

is it like a mistake or do they just send emails to everyone including applicants?

to everyone

got a lot of those.

yeah me too

…I didn’t…

Yeah, UCSD hasn’t sent me ANYTHING. I think it could be because I never signed in at the website to check my application status so they never registered my email, but who knows.
Anybody know why?

^ Yeah, that’s probably why… I’d be really surprised if it’s actually an indicator of whether you’ve been admitted or not. Try logging into the application site and see if you start getting them (I usually get about one a week it seems like).

Is this the application site you’re talking about Raychul?
https://www.ucapplication.net/ucap/

^ Actually that’s the universal site for all the UCs… UCSD should have sent you a little brochure thing in the mail with an ID # on it that would allow you to check your status specifically for UCSD

:( Little brochure? Is this specifically from UCSD? or from the general UC place? Because I might have to ring them about this…

^ It was specifically from UCSD… I’d just call or e-mail them and tell them that you haven’t received your ID # yet (it probably just got lost in the mail or something)

Thanks! I’ll email them.

wait so…I just went to the UCSD website and typed in my Application ID, email, birth place, etc, and they gave me an ID (I didn’t get anything in the mail)

Is this the same as the one you get from the postcard?

^ I’m not 100% sure, but that sounds like it should be okay. That’s probably the safeguard that they use in case the brochure does get lost in the mail…

I started getting them after I got an account at myapplication.ucsd.edu… and they’re pretty annoying. So I tried unsubscribing about a million times, and it didn’t work; I e-mailed them and I got a response back saying that they couldn’t unsubscribe me because they didn’t know my @ucsd.edu address and that I should try again. So… I’m back to manually deleting them ):

I get them, they’re plain useless to me now. I think they are supposed to be sent to current SD students, which would make more sense.
