Wii Fit?

I would really like a Wii Fit, but haven’t found one anywhere. Anyone have any luck getting it or experience with it? Looks like fun and it’s getting great reviews, but I refuse to pay the current prices charged by resellers. I have Dance Dance Revolution and it gives me quite a workout. I just can’t let anyone see me doing it!

Just go a basic Wii for H for father’s day. The only way we got it was knowing someone who worked at Target who called and told me which morning to get up early and get in line. The alternative would be to go online on a Saturday night and look at all the chain store’s print ads onine. (Target, bestbuy, etc) If they have it in the Sunday print ad that will go out in the papers, they will have at least some in the store Sunday morning. Get there early. It’s a pain in the backside but you could be home by 8:15 and back in bed!

I went to Target after dinner with my son on a Sunday night - he headed off to Electronics while I went towards Ladies. Two minutes later he called me to tell me there were 4 Wii Fit’s in stock and he was holding onto one. I ran to get a cart and mentioned to the cart guy that they were available. He said, yeah, we have 4. I said, now you have 3! So it was pure luck - they must have just put them out. Half an hour later the other three were still there. So you just never know!

In a related incident, last December I was in Best Buy first thing on a Saturday morning looking for a video game for DS for Chanukah when an employee wheeled a stack of Wii’s out and dropped them literally at my feet. DS had already bought one last summer; I almost bought another just because they were there.

It’s a lot of fun; I especially like the Step aerobics and the slalom and ski jump. I’ve unlocked most of the yoga exercises and just laugh at the thought of trying some of them. Ditto on the strength exercises. I am not very fit and really do NOT like seeing my BMI but apparently I have excellent balance - the Yoga instructor keeps complimenting me. “You’ve got great posture” he says - not sure how he knows - he doesn’t see me, does he?

Even though the instructions say to do it barefoot, I find it much more comfortable in socks.

I would not pay scalper’s prices, though. I suspect the excitement of using it will die down in a few months, although then my interest may pick up again next winter.

I just stopped by GameCrazy (attached to Hollywood Video) and although they didn’t have any, they put me on a list and will hold one for me next week. We have had a Wii since last November and it’s a great fun way to exercise on days that are too rainy or hot to get outside. I am definitely getting my money’s worth out of it. I have found the tennis and Dance Dance Revolution to be the best workouts and am looking forward to some more variety with the Fit.

I’ve had it pre-ordered and so we had it on the day it came out. It’s been quite fun, and if you stick with it, you don’t need the gym. You unlock more and more games and exercises as you keep practicing. I recommend you try Sunday mornings at Best Buy, Target or Toys R Us.
