<p>To the OP – are you GPA and other credentials top notch? If it’s just a case of not testing well on the SAT compared to your other credentials, it may be worthwhile for you to get a book or even a few hours of tutoring to try to improve your SAT score. Also try the ACT – you may do better.</p>

<p>Stanford & Duke are worlds away from Cornell in terms of recruited athletes. These schools are constantly on TV & in the NCAA tourney (basketball). Their revenue & exposure is at a different level than Cornell’s which is why they make a greater concetion for atheletes. Can’t say what the cutoff is right now, but I know a coach who was an assistant at Cornell 7-8 years ago & he couldn’t get players in if they were below a 1200.</p>

<p>we’re ratholing this discussion … Stanford and Duke are not in the Ivy league and do not face the league limitations on athletic recruiting that Cornell does; whatever choices Stanford or Duke make about athletic recruits has absolutely nothing to do with the OP’s situation or question.</p>
