Will a 480 kill my chances entirely??

I have a 2210 on my SAT test, which is my highest score, and the second time I took the test (the first time, it was a 2000).

HOWEVER I have taken several SAT II tests, and while I got very high scores on my Literature and US History SAT’s (700+), I unfortunately got a 480 on my World History SAT, which I did not expect at all.

My question is - UPenn, my ED school, requires me to submit my entire testing history, so will this 480 kill my chances at the school? Or will my other high scores balance it out?

You could always retake the World History test if that score bothers you that much. I don’t think many schools make decisions based off of subject tests, so I don’t think it would be too much of a crutch considering you have a 2210 SAT. If you have time before ED I would recommend studying up for it a little to raise your score if you think it’s possible.

I would retake it if I were you… UPenn is selective, and honestly a 480 isn’t great, especially since the rest of your testing history indicates that you can do much better.

Yeah definitely retake. I feel like a 480 shouldn’t be too hard for you to top (at least try to get 500+ lol). I say retake it because, think about it, why would they take you when they can just dig through their pile of 30K+ applicants and find an equivalent of you but without a 480 subject test; however, that is slightly exaggerated and would be worst case scenario. I think it’d be pretty unfair to hold that against you if you have other 700+ subject tests. I also think if you apply ED it will mitigate it more, but that is only my guess and in no way proven to be factual.

Truth is, it may not hurt you for sure, but why risk it? If it makes you feel better, though, I saw someone recently post on here that they got into Penn engineering (ED I believe) with a 550 physics subject test and a 700+ other one. She didn’t even have other subject tests to counteract it and was accepted, so it’s possible.

are you sure you have to send in all the subject test scores also?. I know that a lot of the schools that require all your testing history still allow you to use scorechoice for your subject tests.

The SAT subject test for World History is not offered again until December 7.
