How badly will a free hour hurt me? I have had full schedules all first 3 years of high school, but now as a senior, it appears I will have a free hour. Will this really affect me at all? The rest are all AP classes and gym.

This happened because I decided to take AP chem and physics, but ended up being 1.5 hours long (they told us 1 hour long during school year). So that made me not have a lunch and I’d have to take 0 hour gym. I dropped chem.

Almost definitely not. The valedictorian at my children’s school had a study hall every year and was admitted to Harvard, among other places.

If you feel that you need to explain the situation, you can do so in the “additional information” section of the common app. I don’t think it is necessary.

I doubt it. I’m only filling up 7 out of the 8 possible credits for my senior schedule. The reason I did this though is because I have 2 AP classes that are every other day all year round and I’m not going to fill up the last credit with two .5 credit electives that I don’t care about and will lower my GPA (they are not weighted)
