Will A- hurt me?

During this past year my father has been in and out of the hospital and it was common for me to go to practice right after school then visit him at the hospital an hour away and get home exhausted at midnight or later and still have to do homework/study. Largely due to sleep deprivation and just overall stress I earned only an A- in Spanish III First Semester and an A- in both Spanish III and Precalc (all advanced, we don’t really have many APs).

Besides this I have all As throughout all three years and an unweighted 4.0 . My dream is to go to Michigan, will this really hurt me?

Thanks!

No but your seeming lack of understanding of what constitutes a competitive candidate may cause you unneeded heartburn.

Do you really think only 4.0 students are accepted to Michigan/I?

Nah just one of my friends was making a huge deal out of his A minuses, got me thinking

Steer clear of idiot friends like that

An A- is perfectly fine. I don’t know who your friend is but if he thinks an A- is bad, he has got some major problems.

There is definitely nothing wrong with an A-. I wish I had more of those on my transcript, and I still got into a bunch of good schools.

Most kids who get accepted to UMich don’t have 4.0’s, just FYI. Kids with that much academic ability usually apply to higher tier schools.
