Will a little blemish on my transcript seriously affect my chances of admission?

The blemish on my transcript would be my senior year classes; I’m not taking a full schedule. It won’t show up on my transcript that I have a free period, but there will be a lesser amount of classes on my transcript for my senior year. I have maintained/exceeded the rigor of my courses, but will this free period seriously affect my chances?
I’m really serious about GWU - I’m applying ED, have visited twice, and have been in touch with the admissions guy for my area. He knows how serious I am, too.
If it helps, my EC’s are pretty legit and my recs will be really good. and I have a 2220 SAT (730 CR 690 M 800 W).

Answers are much appreciated; thanks in advance!!

paradisexlost: Obviously can’t say for sure if the “blemish” will have an impact but I can tell you my daughter did the same thing this year as a senior. Even her guidance counselor suggested she take a 1/2 year course during the first semester instead of a free period but she realized that if she was going to do well with a very heavy senior load that she needed the free period. She was accepted this spring at some very selective schools including W&M and UVA.

I would say you have zip to worry about, but have you consulted with your college counselor? My daughter was admitted to GW and is attending and her grades/SAT scores were not as high as yours. She had admirable EC’s and a very clear idea of exactly why she wanted to go to GW. I’d focus on those things, particularly the latter.

Best of luck.

wow, your grades and SAT scores are better than mine and I got in RD. I’d say that you have a great chance of getting in. Good luck and don’t slack off :)

I wouldn’t worry about it, I had a free period this year too.
